    Welcome to 5th Grade!
     
    This year, you will have two teachers which will specialize in two subject areas. This year I will be instructing both English Language Arts and Social Studies.
     
    5th Grade ELA: 
     
    This year we will be utilizing a workshop model for Reading and Writing instruction. The Reading and Writing Workshop model is kept simple and predictable so that your child will be able to focus on the complex work it takes to develop their reading and writing skills. They will be taught strategies that will not only be useful in the fifth grade, but will also continue their journey to becoming life-long readers and writers.
     
     
    5th Grade Social Studies: 
     
    Through inquiry your child will become engaged in the history and geography of the Western Hemisphere including the development of cultures and civilizations, the interactions between societies, and analyzing their government and economic systems.
