South Buffalo Charter School was established in 1999 and formally granted a five year charter by State University of New York Board of Regents in the fall of 2000. South Buffalo Charter School was the second charter school to open in the greater Buffalo region. In February of 2015 the school was rechartered for another five years.

The school opened its doors in the former Buffalo Public School No. 29 with an enrollment of 248 students in grades kindergarten through grade four. In 2004 the building was purchased from the City of Buffalo and so began our expansion to include grades five through eight. In the Fall of 2014 South Buffalo Charter School opened its NEW LOCATION at 154 S. Ogden Street in the city of Buffalo.  This is the first newly constructed school in the city in over 30 years increasing our enrollment capacity to 900 students in grades kindergarten through grade eight..

The school has a dedicated and qualified teaching staff of over 65 teachers and as well as a seasoned administration and support staff that will foster quality education and socialization for our students. Our goal is to create life long learners and a desire to “Make It Happen".
